The Power of Solitary and Loving Yourself

Feb 21, 2012 by Vonda

Being alone is sometimes associated with sadness or loneliness, but there’s some great power in solitary. Being comfortable in your own thoughts and loving yourself fully will do wonders for your life. You will reflect and organize your life in such a way that you win no matter what happens.

You could choose to focus on everything that’s wrong , everything that bothers you, on all that is not right… OR you could focus on how lucky you are, how many great things you have in your life, the food in your belly, the roof over your head and the people that love you. It’s like what I said in the blog post, Count Your Blessings… you have so much to be thankful for!

If only we could remember how wonderful we are and how great life truly is each and every moment. Here’s how you can feel the power of solitary in one afternoon!

Spend a free afternoon by yourself, with no distractions and with your own thoughts. Get out of the house and go somewhere you can sit down and reflect. If you’re somewhere warm like me (Florida), walk around the beach or sit in a park or even go on a walk… enjoying the outdoors should get the happy juices going. If it’s just too cold to be outside, then simply go to your nearest coffee shop or bakery and relax.

Once you’re at that oh-so-special-place, do the following:

  1. Think about all the great things you have in your life
  2. Write down the wonderful things about you
  3. Make a list of what makes you, YOU (skills, passions, hobbies, interests and experience)
  4. Consider what you can do out of life with your passion, interests and skills

Reflecting and organizing your life like this will help you love yourself, no matter what goes wrong in life. Even if you’re not sitting in the park or in a coffee shop, always remember to think positively and enjoy being with yourself.

You will be surprised by what you’ll discover about yourself when it’s just you.

There’s power in solitary. Can you feel it? Be sure to tell me what you discover about yourself!

You’re so right! I discover great things about myself and come up with some pretty good ideas when I’m alone and positive. Great post!

Great advice! I’ll have to try it the next time I have some free time.

  3. Great Post! There are some really good ideas here, more people need to take the time and reflect and practice this kind of solitude.
